The more I read about The Dig, the truer it seems to be – at least to the dynamics of the key players and the personality of Basil Brown. Someone has kindly alerted me to the attached account of Basil Brown, which quotes liberally from his diary:-

    Six degrees of separation…..we watched it last night, then I had an email this morning to say a friend in Canada had watched it at the same time, and then I opened your blog!

    Thanks for the link to the article about Brown. It was very informative. Even though I live in Tasmania I’ve been lucky enough to see both the new centre at Sutton Hoo and the British Museum display. If we ever get to travel again, I will revisit the BM with a new insight.
