My post on Hackney mysteriously disappeared.

It began with the 1930s town hall, a grand piece of municipal classicism:

Then the Old Town Hall, which I couldn’t quite make out datewise (I think it’s an early nineteenth-century building with a later doorway). It’s now incongruously a bookmaker’s:

St. John-at-Hackney is a fine neo-Greek church by James Spiller:

And it has wonderful old tombstones in the graveyard:
