I was nearly first in the queue for the annual visit of Old Town, the mail order tailors, down from Holt in Norfolk to take up temporary residence in Fournier Street. I dearly love Miss. Willey, sometimes known as Marie, who runs the business with great briskness and always remembers what I have bought the year before. I tried on a shirt in a broom cupboard:-

Could you explain a little more for the uninitiated?
Yes, happy to. It’s a wonderful mail order tailoring company, originally established by Miss. Willey and her partner, Will Brown, in the old part of Norwich and now based in Holt. They come to London once a year seeing customers, I think, only by appointment. See their website http://www.old-town.co.uk. I recommend it.
Thank you so much. I have indeed now looked at I the website – very tempting. While writing, thank you also for your blog, a daly treat as well an encouragement to Londoners to be more observant.
I’m a great Old Town fan as well, Charles. In fact, I’m here in Holt about to go and order another suit (my 8th, in fact): but it seems like Marie is down your way.
She should be back by now. 8 is as nothing to the painter Stephen Conroy who has (or had) a whole room full of them. Charles
