Victoria Park

I could scarcely bring myself to record the appearance of Victoria Park today because it was so ostentatiously, flamboyantly and nearly nauseatingly autumnal, like some scene of the Fall in western Massachusetts which I’ve always thought was to be avoided.   But in the end, amateur photographer that I am, I succumbed to a couple of shots:-

I’m just back from a New England in the fall holiday. These trees are a nice reminder. Best trees we saw were in Vermont. Though Mass did have some splendid ones too.

The Olympic park is looking wonderful. Just near the Timber Lodge cafe is an astounding bank of rudbeckia and michaelmas daisies. The way the landscape is managed at the park is impressive – and much of it down, I believe, to a team headed by Sheffield University’s Professor of Planting Design, Nigel Dunnett.

I drove through Hyde Park yesterday with Australians. The colours were so beautiful we fell into total silence.
