You are absolutely right – the back streets of Venice are wonderful. Great atmosphere and much more interesting than Tourist Venice. Do you know the novels of Donna Leon, about her policeman central character, Guido Brunnetti. his beautiful wife and family? Very good, and steeped in Venice and Veneziano.
