By the way, if you are going to the Storehouse, we had a very delicious supper at a nearby Italian trattoria on the River Lea called Gotto. I mention it because you’re not spoiled for choice, although they have shrewdly opened a branch of E5 Bakehouse on site.
Also, it took me only half an hour to get there from Green Park on the Mildmay line to Hackney Wick. Easier than the walk across the park from Stratford.

I do hope there are good eating options for families. I spent so many years traipsing around London with my kids with sandwiches and snacks in my bag. Places like the Science Museum with facilities for people to eat their packed lunches are an important way of making museums accessible to people who don’t have a lot of disposable income. And I remember when my kids were very small and we were living in Edinburgh, giving thanks for the National Museum whose cafe sold basics like Walkers’ crisps and white bread cheese sandwiches which my kids were happy to eat. I realise that cafes must provide an important income stream for museums/galleries but there has to be a balance.
E5 Bakehouse which is on site is pretty wonderful – not cheap, but cheerful. Charles
