Well, in my humble opinion English cakes and pastry are much better now, thanks to the French and Central European influence. In fact, London has dozens of places where everybody can enjoy the best of a Schwarzwalden Torte, or the Gödösh Torte or the imitation of the Sacher Torte among others. Good for London, and for those who are visiting England as well.
