I’ve just finished the book by Gitta Sereny, ‘Into that Darkness’ from mercy killing to mass murder which is based on interviews with Franz Stangl – the commandant of Treblinka- which sounds like the worst of the killing camps. Diana Athill said it was the hardest book she ever had to edit.
