Orcadian Crafts (2)

I went back to The New Craftsmen last night to see and admire their collection of work by Orcadian craftsmen, the traditional chairs made by Gareth Neal and Kevin Gauld and the small baskets by Mary Butcher, keeping alive the traditions of basketwork, and to enjoy a Scottish feast cooked – deliciously – by Jeremy Lee of Quo Vadis:-

  1. Wonderful to see craftsmen getting the profile that deserve. Romilly is supreme but she is by no means alone.

How about giving Edmund De Waal a show at the RA, rather like the Gormley? He would bring people in, it would be a huge success, and it might even change attitudees among Academicians so that they might elect him as an RA.
