The end of Christmas

I have been trying hard not to say anything about current circumstances: Christmas cancelled, imminent food shortages, no passage to Europe, a clown and buffoon in 10, Downing Street, deep down in a hole which we have dug for ourselves and from which it suddenly seems impossible that we will ever extricate ourselves, as we just dig deeper through a weird combination of ideology and total incompetence. Nearly the last straw was seeing the Prime Minister announce the termination of Christmas without the remotest sense of apology or any awareness that he had said precisely the opposite only two days before, so that we had all made our plans accordingly, 67 million of us, sacrificed on the superstitious altar of supposed sovereignty which will mean a New Year without food.

Happy Christmas !

  1. Dear Charles! We are hardly going to starve, either now or in the near future, Christmas isn’t cancelled, just some of the overindulgence that sometimes goes with it. And no one would have wanted to bring in these latest restrictions until there really was no alternative. If announced earlier it would simply have been ignored. And leaders in Wales, Scotland and Ireland have announced the same restrictions as England over the weekend. But agree with you about the unnecessary Brexit confusion!

I agree with you Charles. I was due to fly to France yesterday for Xmas and New Year and now at home with nothing in the fridge and queues so long at local supermarket I am too scared to join having recently come out of hospital, etc., and the first date I can get a home delivery, or click and collect, is 11th January!! I am so angry at home No !0 resident has dealt with this pandemic – or should I say, not dealt with it! He said yesterday we are on top of the virus, Matt Hancock said ‘ it is out of control’ – is there any joined up thinking?
