Each year I study the long lists for the RIBA Awards looking for interesting projects which might otherwise have escaped my attention.
This year, I was intrigued to see 8, Bleeding Heart Yard, a project by Groupwork which you might easily walk past without noticing – in a way that’s its point that it should mesh well with its warehouse surroundings:-

The really amazing thing about this is that it was a grim 1960s’ office building, that’s been enlarged and wrapped in this aluminium frame to ensure it does blend in to its historic setting: https://www.archpaper.com/2024/04/groupwork-restores-8-bleeding-heart-yard/ I went to see it, too, and think it’s incredible!
Yes, rather fascinating. Interesting too that it’s become the headquarters of Julius Baer. Charles
