I read this morning about the recent extension to Lea Bridge Library and thought that I would go and see it. The original library is 1909, funded by Carnegie, a fine bit of municipal classicism:-

Studio Weave have added a pavilion behind it – a place to work and have coffee, a modern-day pavilion:-

It’s nice to find a library so busy and expanding.
This is intriguing – and I recently encountered the conversion of the Old Library (Carnegis funded) in Erith, built in the same period, which has now become The Exchange, to support makers of all kinds, and community events, and also with a good cafe: https://www.theexchangeerith.com/the-old-library
Sounds interesting too. Thanks for the tip…. Charles
