Nothing whatever to do with trees, I’m afraid, (magnificent though they are) but I wanted to draw your attention, if you haven’t seen it already, to my letter the FT have published today – in which I propose that the Chancellor should pay as high profile a visit to the RA’s Ai Wei Wei exhibition as he did to China, as a way to demonstrate that he has at least some regard for the wider global perspective while he promotes the British economy. I fear the risk of his taking up the challenge is slender, but who knows?
