I think the brick Corinthian columns looked really heavy especially two, surmounted by a further two, and with oddly unmatched decoration to the Corinthian element. I wonder what it would have looked like in colour.
It’s a strange, rather wonderful building – provincial baroque, designed by Sebastiano Taricco (with help from two further architects called Rocca and Crappa), using every element of the toolbox, piled sky high. Charles
