A week ago, we were invited to lunch by some people who were going the next day to Hong Kong. They offered us a bouquet of flowers which they were not going to be able to enjoy of such extraordinary magnificence that I wish to preserve its memory:-

Gorgeous !!
Glad you’re still following. Charles
These are so extraordinarily beautiful. I don’t know if it is an age thing but I notice cut flowers so much more than I used to. You may have seen the 1950’s set Daniel Day Lewis film Phantom Thread in which the flowers are spectacular (I’m guessing given the setting they show the influence of Constance Spry). Mind you, having seen the film and then seen Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk at the Royal Opera, my sixteen year old daughter has declared mushrooms to be off the menu for a bit!
Best wishes,
Joan
Yes, we did see Phantom Thread, but I’m not sure I registered the cut flowers. I didn’t think it quite worked as a film in the way that it reconstructed the fashion of the period. Charles
