Although I knew and stayed at Chatsworth in the 1960s, I never saw the Sabine Room, for obvious reasons. Both the Duke and the Duchess were great patrons, and collectors, of the Art, and the present Duke, as Chairman of Sotheby’s, has continued that. As has his son, William, who was on the RA Committee which oversaw the conversion of Burlington Gardens.
