So, after a long wait, not knowing quite what was happening and not being able to find out, I got the call last night and we went this morning to the Queen Mary vaccination centre in Arts One and we were done – the merest pinprick, but the most enormous relief, like a large dark cloud which now is half removed, the endless anxiety and precautions, not that they stop, but they feel suddenly less a matter of life and death.
The snowdrops are out in the garden:-

Congratulations! Monika received hers this week, but though I’m a year older than you I haven’t heard a thing as yet. Patience is a virtue, they say…
Yes, one waits and waits and then the call comes. Keep your mobile on ! Charles
and nb it may be very short notice (in my case, four hours!)
Hello. Im new to blogs…. Just checking if you got a message from me a few days ago , in response to a post of yours a few years ago, asking about research on Lettice Ramsey? If not, I’ll try and send one again. Emma Jay.

Yes, I sent some info in an email yesterday. I’ve just re-sent it. Charles
Got my first one yesterday — online appointment registration in Los Angeles County, quite a scrum…. but that done, it took a total of 30 minutes once I arrived on site, including assistance to make an appointment for the second dose, and waiting 15 minutes after vaccination for a possible reaction. My arm is a bit sore, but I am lightened by the event. Now possible to see and hold my new grandchild…. and make plans to come back to London in May. The newspapers here make it sound like it is a torturous process, but all my friends have had the same experience as I have had. The real problem is just getting the appointment
.
Dear Leslie, Yes, miraculously easy and straightforward – here you fill out the forms on medical condition, then go next door and a cheerful nurse does you one-by-one. Charles
