The Aalto Siilo and a Provenance Projected seminar was the reason for coming to Oulu.

The Siiilo is smaller than expected, although not without monumentality.  Still in its raw postindustrial state.  It was completed in 1931, so is a very early work by Alvar Aalto, but hard to square with the other works at this stage of his career – the Viipuri Library in Viborg (1927-1935) and the Paimio Sanatorium (1929-1933).  It is already an exciting space inside, with grand plans for the future:-
