Milton Clevedon

This is my last blog from Somerset – and maybe my last blog before Christmas – of a tomb (not very Christmassy, but beautiful in its lettering) in the churchyard in Milton Clevedon, off the road to Evercreech, next door to a farm which produces cheddar cheese in a bit of unspoilt Somerset countryside:-

Happy Christmas !

    Dear Charles,
Just to wish you a happy Christmas. I’ve enjoyed following your blog (now for the second year) and have continued to learned a lot from details of architecture, paintings and ideas for different places to visit. I have never heard of the small villages of Milton Clevedon or Evercreech and am inspired look them up. The names alone are enough to want to visit and then to track down the beautiful headstone you have photographed. Best wishes Victoria

I grew up in this area of Somerset so have loved your Bruton blogs but I’ve never seen that tomb. So next week, when I am down with my mother in Castle Cary, I shall visit it with her. Just the sort of thing she (and I) like to do. So thank you in advance for making a very old lady (not me!) happy.
